There are no Silver Strike machines in Cal Neva ... what they do have are called Silver Mine Machines. These machines dispense old Silver Dollars

MaggieMags is right the machines is CalNeva are Silver Mine Machine that dispinse Old Silver Dollar. I do beleive one of them pays in the Silver Eagles.

I guess I do not know what the Silver Strike machines are. Could some one enlighten me.

Thanks

Happy to give more info on these machines.

A Silver Strike machine is a special slot that dispenses a limited edition "coin"

These coins are .999 silver. They have a face value of $10 primarily in the Reno area.

There are $7, $10, $20, $40 and $200 available.

With the exception of the $200 strike you win these coins out of the Silver Strike Slot machine.

The $200 is only available by winning 20 strikes and redeeming them at the cashier's cage of the casino you have won them at. Not all casinos offer the $200 strike. I understand that the $200 strike is a full pound of silver.

In Reno there on only $10 strikes available. The machines are quarter machines and you must play maximum bet in order to win a strike. Some of the machines are single line machines and all you need to do is get the silver strike symbol to show on the last slot to win one.

Some of the machines are 3 line machines in with these you must line up 2 single bars, or 2 double bars or 2 triple bars and the silver strike symbol at the 3 slot to win. You will win either 1,2 or 3 silver strikes depending on whether you line up single, double or triple bars.

You will have the face value of each strike, the silver value of each strike and the collectibility value of each strike. Some of the strikes go for lots of $$$$ on EBay and on other auction sites as well as Silver Strike Collector Club sites.

Here is an example of a Silver Strike that is on EBay right now .. at least you can see what they look like. Each casino has it's own design.

And here is a link to what the machines actually look like. They are quite large and are placed at the end of a row of regular slots or sometimes set alone as an end cap in a grocery store would be.

http://www.igt.com/GamingGroup/Games/game_detail.asp?toggle=ovr&pid=5.113.120&type_id=3166&pl=

There is no ticket in ticket out on these machines. The coin or coins you win are dispensed directly to you at the top of the machine. They are dispensed in a plastic 'capsule' to protect them.

At the airport there are some in the machines called 'chasers' which are put into a red colored capsule. These are called red caps and very difficult to come by. These red caps are highly collectible and very difficult to obtain. So any of you who may come across a red cap .. hold onto it or auction it off for some large bucks.

I hope this helps to clear up some of the fog.

Thanks Maggie
I had the Silver Mine Machines confused with the Sivler Strikes. I remember seeing some now that I know what they are. I have never played them. We will be in Reno at Thankgiving and I will give them a try.

Thanks,

misterd

"There is also one in Verdi at The Gold Ranch but we didn't get there."

We made a overnight trip to Reno on Turkey day, i didn't get past CalNeva and Harrahs to look for any of the Silver Strikes. Spent a lot of time watching football. Anyway we stopped for gas at the Gold Run in Verdi and I went in to look for the Silver Strike and couldn't find it so it may be gone already.
