I seem to have lost my enthusiasm for TRs lately.
Perhaps if I ever won, then they would be more fun.

275 names at the Luau drawing and my name was absent. My travel companion did win $50 in the drawing but lost $500 in the casinos.

Good food all around. Buffets (bkft and dinners) were very good at Eldo.
Beer still great around town.
Had an excellent Shrimp Pesto Pizza at Atlantis. However, playing very conservatively at low levels, we managed to lose a bundle in a couple hours there.

Also bugs me that you have to beg an employee for a drink if playing in the non-smoking Sky Terrace.

The Siena took away my gold card. the closest I now come is Gold Card at Eldo and a Gold parking permit at Alison's Castle.

I must have played 25 hours of video poker and had maybe 6 4OAKs.
That is sad. Obviously no Royals. Seems more and more machines in various casinos (including Pep and Eldo) no longer pay 4,000 coins for a Royal Flush with 5 bet. That angers me a lot.

Great rooms at Siena and Eldo. Still can't figure why the Sands redecorated in a 1930s Art-Deco style.

Lots of road construction - won't end in my lifetime. Trip used to be five hours. This time, each way was between 6 and 7 hours. Lots of cops out there too. Traffic on I-5 in OR was VERY heavy. Why doesn't anyone stay home anymore?

Did not even walk into the Fitz, Harrahs, Cal Neva or outlying places otherwise.

Weather was good, if a bit windy and chilly. Colors started changing while we were there. I drove up to Rancho San Rafael Park but there was little color to see yet. I do enjoy the seasons in that park.

OH yes, I must report this.
THE HAMSTER DIED...... does that mean I'm pregnant.
I went to play this at Pep and both were gone. Only lasted a few weeks. they had a bunch of new machines in the normal 3 slot banks for new slots. But I didn't like any of them. Later did find one Super Happy Frozen Cat machine in the cancer-producing hallway near the coffee shop. Could not play there however.

Pep looked about the same. But they will likely make in by Dec with the new construction. However, parking is already crowded. They didn't plan this very well. I think they now need to build a LARGE parking structure on the other end of the building (north).

Bartenders: Lots of bad ones now. I can think of one at Pep, one at Siena, and two at Eldo. They just lean on bar, talk to friends or cocktail waitresses, and ignore the public. I frequently had to yell at them to get a drink after waiting a reasonable time. One just kept walking by me, then got himself a cup of coffee, and stood drinking it. All this after spending at least 5 minutes talking to friends about sports bets.
What is the world coming to?

Enjoyed visiting with John and being updated on the scandalous news of other board members. You guys know who you are. Twisted Evil

I'm outta here.

Very Happy Thanks Jerry for the trip report. It is always good to hear from you.
I am not the sharpest tool in the shed but did you mentioned you stayed at the Siena or the Sands? I haven't heard you talk about either place for a long time. I take that back I do know that you aren't impressed with the Siena any more. Last I visited the Sands I thought it was an improvement as they were changing things around there. Well good to hear from you Jerry and hope all is well.

Yes, I stayed at both places as well as Eldo. Personally, I prefer the Eldo of the 3 but they don't send me many room offers.
Siena has cut way back on offers. Their machines have been further downgraded by the Slot Mgr. Hard to get points. I lost my Gold Card and went clear to the bottom card.
Sands is no better as Terrible's. Still the pits. I stayed a night for the free room. I hate to gamble there.

Seems that every casino, even the Pep, is vastly downgrading pay charts for video poker, including only 1500 (not 4000) coins for a Royal.
Also (is it really possible to go lower) the penny machines seem to be even tighter.

Thanks for your comments. We are well and looking forward to next FREE trip (except for heavy gambling losses_) to Reno.

long time no see.
When exactly is the Fitz tourney?
We may go for the halloween slot tourney at Siena. depends on many things, tho, including weather.
Last year, at the time, we slid off the road on Dead Horse PASS and spent a long miserable evening waiting for a tow truck.

My regards to Errin and the girls.
Enjoy Tahoe. That can be cold in the winter.

Hey Jerry, thanks for another great report and sorry to hear you didn't have any major wins. It's a shame that the "Frozen Cat" machines are gone but it's good to hear there's still one left. So, the Sands redecorated in a 1930's art deco style? I couldn't imagine anything more funky than the old decor, I'll hafta check that out! Shame about the bartenders. Hopefully you'll do better on your next trip.

I'll chime in on this one.

no problem on the bartenders. There are plenty of good ones. Besides, I am never short of drinks. Bad bartenders are good for sobriety.

"Bad bartenders are good for sobriety."

Hawk, do you even know the meaning of that word?

sobriety:

break it down:

so: To unite or make by needle and thread
brie: A strong, soft, French cheese
ty: To bind, fasten, or constrain

I think it translates as follows:
If you unite yourself to a lot of French cheese, it will bind you up and constrain you of imbibing too much American beer.

Stan: any thoughts????

Wow, good question and thread - I guess I would add only the following:

A sober hawk deserves its very own sobriquet, served with a side of sorbet.

If you find yourself sober, simply add one "E", and you have "So Beer".

Now, let's have no more "Sob" stories!

End communication.

Stan, unless you are a lawyer, I suggest you see a shrink (do I mean AGAIN?) Twisted Evil

Truthfully, you are very clever and I enjoy your threads. Just wish that I understood 10% of what you said. Rolling Eyes

Hawk, I'm afraid that both you and Jerry have exacerbated the problem by giving me an audience.

The only cure would be for all of us to examine these situations in person, over glasses of beer, and who knows when that'll happen - so in the meantime, we at least have our message board.

The 10% is really all you need; the rest is merely foam resting atop your beer.

But thanks for your accommodation of my pyschological calisthenics; it gives me plenty of material for that shrink appointment!

I noted your Sherlockian subject.
Seems that you and I are the only ones using the "subject" line. guess I need to go back to all caps for my subjects.

I wish you lots of luck during your next trip to Reno! Will you be going to the Halloween slot tourney at the Siena? Hope you take first place!!

I'll be in Reno on Thur. (my annual BD trip) and will be playing in the Halloween slot tourney at the Fitz (Fri. & Sat.). Can't wait to get there!
