Rapid Rewards A-List Membership

Effective Thursday, November 8, 2007

Introducing the Rapid Rewards A-List, where Rapid Rewards Members who fly 32 or more qualifying one-way flights within a 12-month period will receive reserved boarding privileges for an entire year. When you purchase your travel at least 36 hours prior to your flight time, we’ll reserve you the best boarding pass number available—most likely an “A.” And since it’s already reserved, it’s one less thing to think about. You can just print your boarding pass and go! Log in to your MySouthwest® account to see how close you are to becoming an A-List Member—because flying more always gets you more.

This is a great idea that will save a lot of hassle, especially since BoardFirst.com was forced out of business. Congratulations to whoever at Southwest thought of this. It rewards Southwest's best customers; the ones who deserve priority treatment. This intelligent benefit reduces my anger at Southwest for crushing little BoardFirst.com.

Welcome to the A list....was what I got in the mail about two weeks ago.

As a frequent traveler it is nice to see them reward our frequent trips. I also got to use their new boarding system this week. Must admit it is much nicer now.....no need to stand around in A, B or C lines any longer

Well look at you Mr. Hoighty Toighty...LOL, you get to board before all the riff-raff!

I actually think it's a great idea. I also like the fact that families have to board after the A group, so they'll no longer claim all the seats upfront!

As much money that my company has spent on southwest this year, I think I deserve to board first....LOL (still would rather have an assigned seat and board last though)

And I agree with you 100%...it is so nice to see the families with screaming kids finally sitting in the back of the plane where they belong...LOL However, families can still get "A" boarding passes if they chose and board with the A group

I want an "A" pass specifically so I can go towards the back of the plane and try to keep an empty seat next to me. I snarl and growl at anyone who looks like they might consider sitting next to me, unless the flight is sold out. With no yapping busybody sitting next to me, it is much easier for me to quickly go to sleep. I am usually asleep before the 10,000-foot announcement, and wake up as the plane is on final approach. Sleeping on flights is a productive use of otherwise wasted time for me, and the extra rest enables me to log more time in at the tables on the first day or evening of a playing trip.

Screaming kids around me will be foul. On an Alaska Airlines flight I took from Anchorage to Seattle with the dastardly assigned seating, little brats were right behind me, including a baby in a diaper. Well, I assume he or she had on a diaper. It was awful.

So far, on two Southwest flights since the changeover, I have found the system to work extremely well. I got my promised "A" passes despite not checking in anywhere near the 24-hour mark. I have been able to sit in my usual seat, and no brats have been seen or heard.

Yeah, Bear, I agree with you on the kid issue. I think parents should ship them FedEx a day or two before getting on the plane.

Yeah Southwest is a great Airline. I actually used to enjoy watching their show a couple years back. Funny to see some of the situations people get themselves into especially the drunks trying to board the plane.
As far as those "screaming brats" I am just so thankful none of us were ever kids! Confused
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I like to see kids in Reno. I take my kids to Reno. I walk them around clubs to let them see them (on the way to the Hotel room of course).

When I was a kid, I was fascinated by the Nevada club and all those clanking slots in there, with old people with cigarette in hand pulling levers that seemed hard. My dad let me pull one once, and it was a trill. I still remember that pull, and those reels spinning. It was my introduction.

Needless to say, I have grown up, and now I drive around all my very elderly relatives around the clubs, the same relatives that showed me a good time as a kid. I feel some responsibiliity, just as they did when I was a kid.

So, don't be too quick to discount kids, if introduced to Nevada correctly, they will grow to be your driver, your vehicle parker, dinner arrangement maker, and general assistant when age creeps up on us all.
