That's right- and I found out he likes to drink Heineken beer. Of course I am talking about our VisitReno owner and administrator John. I met him Wednesday afternoon at the Peppermill. We found a quiet spot to play video poker at the closed lounge at Chi. The trouble was there was no bar open, but somehow John would leave and come back two minutes later with a couple of cold ones. Repeat.
I had a good thing going. John kept putting money in the video poker machines, and I would win an equal amount. It was working out great for me, but not so good for "poor" John. We both went over to play the Mr.Money local tournament and I won $50 in free play. John got $5 in free play. Sorry John
It was very nice to meet John, He is a witty and fun guy to hang out with. |

I've heard rumors there's a real person behind this VR site..... glad to know he's live and that I, too, could possibly strive to meet this "John" character... I'll have to work on my VP skills first, though.... |

John is a hoot to hang out with. Jerry and I figured that out a few years back. Now no trip to Reno is complete without a few visits with Mr. Reno!
He has a way of taking much of the sorrow out of an evening dominated with poor luck. Laughter is the best medicine. That said, we have both been on the "plus side" a couple of times too.
P.S. Next time, CaSwede, you gotta meet Charlie and Higgins. |

I must thank the previous posters for their kind words.
I really enjoyed meeting Swede for the first time. So much, in fact, that I lined his pockets with my losses. Our VP machines were linked so that what I put in mine was immediately transferred to his. Hard as I tried, he wouldn't trade machines with me. Smart feller, that Swede.
Dave and I have met many times over the years. He and his lovely wife have been to visitreno.com headquarters (my house) to visit with Charlie and Higgins, who tend to dominate the meetings. On one visit, I overheard Dave tell his wife, "It sure is fun visiting with the parrots. Sure wish John wasn't here to spoil it".
Since starting this board, I have met with many of its members, enabling me to put faces and personalities with the screen names. Every meeting has been a positive experience and I'm always ready to meet with more of you. Are you paying attention, Alison? |

I'm still not convinced that the birds aren't behind the whole thing, and that they just invented the character of "John" so there'd be a human mask behind which they can advance their goal of total domination of Reno - if we were to dig into the records of the commodities exchanges, we might find a thriving market in casino-chips-to-birdseed or some other clue to what they're up to.
On the other hand, I've been reading a lot of Stephen King novels recently, and should probably take a break - hey, I know! I'll go on a trip to Reno....(insert spooky music here) |

John I would never say or even think ... Quote: | "It sure is fun visiting with the parrots. Sure wish John wasn't here to spoil it".
|
What I said was,"If you’re done business with the carrot, you’re dish was here to boil it."
(Janice was going to cook John a carrot but Higgins ran off with the cookware.)
Hope that clears things up, John. |

Uhhhh, yeah Dave. Thanks for clearing that up. What you actually said makes much more sense than what I thought you said. By the way, I found the carrot stuck in Charlie's food dish. Actually, it was about 1,000 teeny tiny carrots. |

Hey, John, that reminds me: are you taking Charlie and Higgins to see that "Rio" movie? Seems like it'd be right up their alley... |

Maybe I should take them. It might help them understand that it's OK for birds to talk.
They watched a PBS special about raptors with me. They spent the whole hour with their feathers puffed up, wings spread out and rocking back and forth. When one of the falcons flew at the camera, my birds were gone, but came back after the scene for more displays of terrifying badness. |

Is there more than ONE John?
I have met, what I thought was, the real John. And he in no way resembles the nice guy you guys are describing.
Scratching my head here. Maybe John had bad night or maybe it was, indeed, his doppleganger.
He did though consume a whole bunch of Heinekins during the evening. |
