Should Tort reform be imposed on Shooters?
I rather like A Linzer Torte, myself.

No one in Shooters can even pronounce the word "Tortfeasor", so what does it matter?

"Promissory Estoppel" is another cool word to throw around.

...but I've started law school, which is eating up a tremendous amount of time and focus. Yeah, yeah, I know - just what the world needs, more lawyers, right?

It also means that my company-sponsored trips to Reno are off the table for a little while, so I've even less to contribute than before.

But I'll keep an eye on ya all, and will endeavor to at least check in now and then - hope you're all doing well, and that your trips to Reno are fruitful!

-Stan

Hey! Us guys often pronounce Tortfeaser correctly. Unfortunately we're actually trying to say tart pleaser. (As in "Do you think that if I bought that little biker chick at the end of the bar a beer I'd be a Tortfeaser...Hic")

Stan, still waiting your additions or comments on my "Ode to Shooters"poem.

Where are you going Stan? I'm a McGeorge grad of '92 myself.

Hey, no kidding?! I'm attending Santa Clara University School of Law, which, while not top-tier, is apparently well-regarded.

It's part-time, so it will take four years to complete rather than three, and it's going to be a while before I get to "pick" a specialty. Right now, I'm just drinking in all the initial concepts - it's cool stuff, though heady!

Thanks for checking in!

Enjoy! I liked the study of law much more than the practice, hence not doing it now.

Your timing is good, might as well be in school during the recession/depression, I would suggest bankruptcy law, but I imagine everyone will have bankrupted by the time you graduate, and some good years ahead of us then.

Thanks! The tuition may in fact place me in bankruptcy, so I guess the training will help.

I know what you mean about the practice v. the study - fortunately, I haven't bought into the notion that having a law degree is a license to print money, or even have fun.

I'm hoping to settle into some corporate gig, at least out the gate - you know, be the corporate counsel for visitreno.com or something - I can forego some of the bigger perks due to my being entry-level - for example, I'll only insist on two in-casino massages per month, as opposed to the usual three - and I don't need a stretch limo, a regular Lincoln Town car will be just fine. Y'know, things like that.

John's got my first check in the mail, I'm sure.

Congratulations, Stan, you got the job.

Don't worry about the in-casino massages. Visitreno.com has a full time in-house masseuse, complete gym, full wet bar with bartender and a gourmet chef. We have an ongoing arrangement with the Peppermill for on-demand use of their limos, and you will have unlimited use of the corporate jet for business and personal matters.

Unfortunately, the monetary compensation may not meet your requirements. Our starting salary for legal council is only $250,000 per year, but raises come quickly for exceptional performance.

Let me know. John

or whatever as subject suggests.

Perks sound good to me. Count on me.

I didn't realize that John was an attorney but he has always been a "tart teaser".

John, you drive a hard bargain, but I guess I can live on the 250k per year - throw in a Foster's Freeze, and you've got a deal!
Now, without the additional consideration, you would of course be subject to a lawsuit for insufficient compensation - but I guarantee that you'll get the best possible representation from the suit that my client and I, a humble Reno message board operator, are bringing against you.
And remember to avoid tortious tarts, tardy torts, and terse forts.
