Thanks for the pics, shooty.

Ah...Tuscan/Roman ruin/Alien spaceship.....my favorite motif...I mean motifs.

Those big round lights, that LOOKED like a sci fi roulette wheel before they were suspended...those are from the Starship Enterprise transporter bay # 4. But when these are "energized..." only your money is transported back to star base..

When I heard of the auction, I wondered what happened to the wonderful wine list in the Enoteca.

I sure hope they land on their feet, running.

I'm somewhat less skeptical of the entire project after viewing the pictures - these guys are apparently serious; no one goes to those lengths without actually wanting to re-open the place, and give it another shot.

Good for them!, I say.

There was lots of activity around the exterior today, most seemed to be associated with putting up new signage. That old style video board has been gone for a while too. Lots of cars in the parking lot and construction workers walking around. Won't be too long now.

Meanwhile, over at Fitzgerald's there are usually no more than 6 cars parked along the side of the building fot the work crew, I don't see trucks making deliveries or people coming and going. No changes at all to the outside of the building yet. I guess they're still getting organized (or maybe financed) but that's pure speculation.

From today's RGJ, here's the article to go along with the photos. It mentions that Ng paid $70 million for the property. The current owners paid something like $3.9 million to buy it out of bankruptcy a few weeks later. With that much of a drop in the overhead they might have a chance. I sure hope so.

They are going to open on Monday. The casino is suppose to open on April 21.

When was the last time Reno had an opening of a "new" casino?

I'm not sure, but I think the last new casino to open was the Siena. Funny how that works

I'm thinking the Golden Phoenix opened more recently than Siena, and closed sooner. And I don't know if you could have called it "new" since they didn't seem to do much to upgrade what the old Flamingo left behind.

Oooweee.... fresh 'n' fun.... I'll have to go scope it during the June visit.

Who bought it? (I'm not feeling quick enough to be able to look this up for myself...)
