Just curious if one can find Cheap Craps Games in the Reno Area. We haven't been down for a couple of years and are kind of getting the itch!
$1 to $3 Mini's?

Boomtown?
Western Village Sparks?
Fandango / Carson City?

Any of the Big Hotels?

Conditions can change with the time of day, day of week or with special events crowds, but today I found $3 minimums with 3-4-5X odds at CalNeva and Circus Circus. Don't know about some of the other places but Bonanza is usually pretty low, though often with the blocker up so you only use half the table.

Interestingly, the table at Peppermill in the afternoon was also $3 minimum which is unusual. Lots of action, and most of it for more than the minimum. Most everything else I saw was $5 min.

Eldorado and Circus (probably other casinos too but I'm not sure) have craps machines that pop up the dice under a glass bubble. Minimums are $1 with 2X odds. As far as I can tell, the game plays the same as table craps, except there are no dealers, electronic credits instead of chips, and the shooter doesn't handle the dice. The shooter pushes a plunger on the controls at his station, there seems to be some control over how much force you put into it, and the dice (about the size of softballs) pop up into the bubble and bounce around a little before settling down. The payoff is done electronically but, as I said, the rules seem to be about the same as for the table game. Anybody have any experience with these?

The cheapest craps in Reno can be found at Bonanza Casino. It's a local casino in Reno but away from the core (north of UNR). Bonanza has $2 craps and at very slow times will draw their minimum to $1. It's a 2X odds tables, but if you bet $1 on the pass /come line, they'll let you go over over to fund a full odds payout (for instance, if you bet $1 on the pass line and the point is 5, they'll let you bet $2.50 as your odds).

Bonanza only has one dealer and the craps table will have a divider so you can only shoot/bet on one half of the table. Also, the table is not always open and will be closed late night/early mornings. Also, the drink service is really slow there.

There are $3 tables at the downtown core. Cal-Neva will always have a $3 craps table going 24 hours. It's a full table with at least two dealers so you get to shoot across the entire table. The downside is that this is the roughest casino in Reno. The dealers will roll their eyes and cuss at you. The customers are typically degenerates/homeless so don't expect to go for the ambiance or glitz. That being said, I've lived in bad areas/ships so I'm kind of at home with some salty bad mofos. Also, the cocktail service is amazing, especially if you tip. And there's $1 buds at the bar.

Circus Circus also has a $3 table. They typically have two dealers and a stickman, but sometimes they just go with two base dealers. You do get to shoot at a big 16ft solid bouncy craps table (there's no padding under the felt and the dice will *plunk* onto the table) . The dealers are the second most surely dealers next to Cal-Neva. This is also a locals table, as I often see the same retirees playing the minimum for hours there.

I've seen the Siena lower their minumums to $3 only once. Every other time it's a $5 table and will have 1 or 2 dealers and occasionally a stick depending on staffing. The drink service here is even worse than Bonanza.

Lastly, I've heard the JA Nugget typically has a $2 table when it's slow. I've heard they go with 2 dealers so you're shooting across the table.

I've confirmed that all these places have 50 cent coins so you'll get your full payout playing $3 tables. The exception is that I've never played at JA Nugget but I believe they do have 50 cent coins too. Bonanza also has quarters at the table so you can play micro limits too.

I believe that all the casino but Bonanza offer 3x4x5 odds like Remano stated.

I've played solo $1 craps at Bonanza. Nearly two hours in, I realized I was down about $150 playing $1 craps!!!!! Luckily, someone came and went on a 3 shift (45 minute plus) roll where I made it up and more. But I realized that you can still lose big playing $1 craps.

If you are going with a family, females, or prefer not playing in a crappy joint I would buck up and play the $5 minimum tables. I've had some "security issues" carrying large amounts of chips/cash to the casinos with $3 tables (with the exception of JA Nugget) and the people there are really shifty. I don't mind playing the $5 tables at Eldo, Silver Legacy, Peppermill, or Grand Sierra because the dealers are more professional and the patrons will likely threaten to bust in your head if you accidently take their winnings when the dealers mistakening place them in front of you.

The coolest development in Craps for Reno is the new "Craps Machine".

I played it hard for hours on my recent trip and I would be real concerned if I was a craps dealer.

First, ONE dollar minimums with 1x free odds that pays correct odds.

Second, a one dollar place on 6 or 8 pays $ 1.17 or just barely BETTER that the traditional $ 7 for a $ 6 bet.

Third, instead of PLACING the 5/9 or 4/10... BUY for a dollar and it pays slightly better than a place bet,

No dealers, play at your own pace, and no one needs to know what your bets are.

AND it's great for showing a newbie how to play without it costing much.

Oh, almost forgot: I found the $ 1 craps machine at Silver Legacy, Eldorado, & Grand Sierra

The best part is that the craps bubble machine at Eldorado is that it's next to the bar, so the cocktail waitress will make frequent stops to keep the drinks flowing!

But the one in the Silver Legacy is ten steps from the mens room...and on the SAME FLOOR ! (Unlike the Eldo where you have to hike "upstairs & down the hall").

The cocktail waitress will find the two dollar bill guy. But the two dollar bill guy has to do some things for himself. (Let me re-phrase that)
