Was in Roseville today (just outside of Sacramento) on business. Driving back to the Bay area on Eastbound I-80, I was struck by the volume of traffic going the other way - now, we all understand that it's a commute corridor, and Friday afternoons tend to be especially busy, but with cars backed up for miles outside of not only Sacramento, but Vacaville, and every other major interchange, it would be easy to conclude that Reno was about to receive a zillion visitors for the weekend - unfortunately, it seems that most of that traffic is sloughed off to the Indian casinos along the way - and, of course, to Lake Tahoe and such, since there's no new blizzards on the radar - but it was poignant and a bit sad to think of the time when such masses of cars would be on their way to fill Reno's coffers over the weekend.

In other news, the radio reports that Michelle Obama, wife of the presidential candidate, was razzed at the University of Reno for her non-native pronunciation of the state's name (the execrable Ne-VAH-dah, as we visitors learn eventually) - how nice to know that no matter what your position on the many ideological divides, you will still draw the same snickers and guffaws for this very common faux pas.

And a hearty salute to John and Jerry, no doubt draining the Heinekens as though they were going out of style - the Heinekens, that is.

Have a lovely weekend, everyone.

Yes, indeedy, John did consume a few. I think I had at least two during the course of the evening. But it was a wonderful, fun evening (I think, if my memory serves me keerectly).
Thanks for thinking of us.

Thank you for the clarification on that one, Stan. But just for the record Jerry and I have been out of style for a few decades now. I think that's why the women find us (well...Jerry, anyway) so irresistible.

Jerry and I had the usual fun and informative visit. As hard as we tried, we couldn't drain the Peppermill of it's entire stock of Heineken. As we were leaving, one of the bartenders told us there was still a half a case in one of the bars we hadn't played. Oh well, "You can't always get what you want".

I am sure a lot of you saw the article in the Reno Gazette but if you didn't you should check it out. Should make things interesting to say the least.

Reno should have become the Country Western Music Capitol of the West. The Downtown Area would have been ideal for a Branson Type Operation, with the great addition of Gambling.

No vision and content to just milk what they can from the hapless gamblers that show up. Sad really.

YoMan.....over and out
