If you get tired of the casino scene but still want to watch the games, go about 4 blocks south of the river on Virginia Street to Amendment 21 Bar and Grill. This is a new sports bar that seems to be doing a pretty good job carving its niche in the market. They promise special March Madness promotions (today they put out a big banner proclaiming themselves the NCAA tournament headquarters, for example), and the food is pretty good for pub grub. It's easy walking distance but they also have free parking if you want to drive. More details:

We usaully get there early, and sit in the middle area between the bar and betting windows. We usually sit next to the aisle in the middle that goes to the betting window. There will be two of us, were in our mid 30's, I'm about 6 ft, with brownish hair, if I know my friend Rod, he'll be wearing some with the San Diego Padres on it.
I think I saw you a couple of years ago. There was a guy wearing a "bama" shirt sitting toward the side, in front of the larger t.v's. |

If you have trouble figuring out who we are, we'll be the ones with beers in front of us at 8am, and a pile of loosing tickets by noon. LOL
Whether we're winning or loosing, it always a great atmosphere during March Madness! Last year Cal Neva had a basketball "Free throw" set up. If you made the basket, they entered you into a dawing for $100, if you missed, they gave you a ticket for a free beer. Talk about a "Bird in the Hand" senerio, or should I say "Beer in the hand". It was fun to watch the people miss on purpose.
Looking forward to it!

Ha ha - that sounds like us!
I had not seen the free throw thing before - sounds like fun. I missed last year after 5 straight years of Madness at the Cal/Neva. |
