I just received an offer from Harrah's in Reno for 4 nights and round-trip airfare (via chartered jet) from Shreveport for $399. (Shreveport is less than 2 hours from my home, so that's reasonably convenient.)

Has anyone done one of these trips before? Is there anything I should factor in (i.e., do they expect/require a certain level of play; are the accommodations at Harrah's reasonably good, etc.) before committing?

It appears as though my wife will be joining me on this trip (her first time to Reno/Tahoe) and I don't want to get there and discover a bunch of hidden costs, or high expectations of play.

TIA,

llk

Locate all the fine print that you possibly can, and read it. I'd also be interested to know what they are saying is required of participants - frankly, if they're charging any amount of money - and $399 is far from insignificant - I can't see how they could "Require" any particular level of play, really.

I agree that it's not an insignificant amount of money; however, airfare from my home (Tyler, TX) was over $400 in February when I last visited. So, $399 is not a bad deal.

I read the fine print, but there seemed to be some things that weren't mentioned. For example, transfers from the airport to the hotel. (I've since discovered that a bus will be provided.) And, I've heard on some of the Vegas boards I read sometimes that some hotels "forget" to mention things like resort fees, required playing level, etc.

Having never done this before, I'm just trying to pre-prepare before I contact them. Having some good questions (and an idea of what the answers should be) is part of that preparation.

We have received various offers from Harrah’s. We were invited to Biloxi, Laughlin, Tunica and Reno. No gimmicks or hidden costs. They need business and they want you to come. When you respond by phone ask the questions you have raised. I’m sure they have a toll free number to go with your confirmation number. Good luck and happy gambling.

I have done the Harrah's junkets several times to Laughlin. They were all well run, no requirements and no hidden agenda. They had a bus ready for us, delivered the luggage in the room, and I was in the casino about 15 minutes after landing.

If you think this is a good deal- go for it.

Oh, they book up quickly. I got shut out several times by waiting more than one day.

Thanks for all of the good responses. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it tomorrow, if I can get a couple of things at work ironed out. It will be a nice retirement present for my wife.

Well, as promised, I signed up for the Harrah's junket. As I mentioned, the price seemed good ($399 pp, including round-trip charter flight from Shreveport, LA, and four nights at Harrah's). I did check to see if there was a required minimum level of play and was assured that there was not. They also provide a chartered bus to take us from the airport to the hotel and back. According to the nice lady with whom I spoke, we don't even have to do check in at the hotel.

This will be my wife's first time in Reno, so we will take a day trip to Tahoe either Monday or Tuesday. She also has some family friends who live there and we'll probably spend some time with them. In other words, not as much gambling on this trip.

However, the tickets are already purchased and the condo is already reserved for November.

Thanks to everyone for their previous responses.
