Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival
Shakespeare on the sand at Sand Harbor, 45 minutes from Reno — the lake behind the stage and the light going down over the Sierra during the first act.
The Warren Edward Trepp Stage sits directly on the beach at Sand Harbor, which makes this one of the most striking outdoor theatres anywhere in the West. From a Reno base it is about 45 minutes over the Mount Rose Highway.
Productions run in repertory through the season rather than in blocks, so which play is on depends on the night. The festival's own calendar is the only reliable source for that, and it is worth checking before you drive up.
Bring layers. The temperature drops hard once the sun is off the water, and it is a beach at 6,225 feet.
