Reno Rodeo

June 17–26

One of the richest rodeos on the PRCA tour, run over about ten days in June at the Nevada State Fairgrounds.

The Reno Rodeo has run since around 1919 and draws well over a hundred thousand people across its run, with a cattle drive, carnival and the full PRCA programme.

It is one of the two weeks — Hot August Nights is the other — when Reno's hotel rates move sharply and downtown fills. If you are visiting for anything else, plan around it.

When things happen

  • The cattle drive runs from 13 June, ahead of the rodeo proper — a genuine drive through the outskirts, and free to watch.
  • The kickoff concert is the evening of 16 June at the Reno Livestock Event Center outdoor arena.
  • The carnival opens mid-afternoon and runs through the full ten days; Kids' Day is the morning of 20 June.
  • Evening performances are the main programme, with the timed-event slack during the day.
