Boomtown Casino Resort
Out on I-80 west toward the California line — the family-and-highway option, with an arcade and a steakhouse and no downtown around it.
Boomtown sits on Interstate 80 west of the city, about eight minutes from downtown and roughly half an hour from Lake Tahoe. It is a highway property in the original sense: it exists because of the road, and it serves the people on it.
That makes it the most family-tolerant casino in the region. There is an arcade, there are pools, and the whole place is built around people stopping rather than people staying out.
It is also the natural first or last night of a trip that involves driving to or from California, which is a genuinely useful thing to know when Tahoe and Sacramento are both west of you.
